Parliamentary Advocacy in the Extractive Industries: an illustrative guide for civil society

This guide to parliamentary advocacy was produced by Policy Forum, a network of over 100 civil society organizations working to strengthen NGO involvement in critical policy processes in Tanzania. Its lessons are based on Policy Forum’s own interventions to improve mining legislation in Tanzania, and its goal is to enhance the parliamentary advocacy strategies of oversight organizations, including those intending to use lobbying, campaigning and media interventions to influence legislation in the extractive sectors. While it employs a case study approach, this guide also contains practical tools for learning, including suggestions for group exercises in a training setting.
